General Clinical Research Center
The Pediatric Exercise Research Center utilizes the facilities at the UCI General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) located at UCI Medical Center in Building 25, 2nd Floor. The GCRC has a participant waiting room, front office reception, nurses' station, three exam rooms, a DEXA scanning room, a 450-square foot exercise laboratory (see SHPL), a brand new metabolic kitchen, conference space, and administrative offices. Office hours from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, and as needed to accommodate studies.





Nursing
UCI's GCRC nursing staff is made up of experienced and dedicated nurses who are specifically trained in assisting the research team to implement and carry out approved research protocols, while providing research participants with the highest standards in quality of care consistent with UCI Medical Center. The staff is very experienced in working with children of all ages.

Bionutrition
The mission of the Bionutrition Research Area is to provide an efficient, quality nutrition unit within the GCRC. Services include protocol-focused nutrition component development, meal and snack preparation, staff interaction with research participants (e.g. diet intake, food records). Activities support inpatient and outpatient research, generate nutrition hypotheses for new research proposals and train staff and students in clinical nutrition research. The bionutrition unit provides body composition and bone strength analysis using DEXA scan and bone ultrasound.
